TitanCart Lite
TitanCart Lite is the free edition of TitanCart, published on WordPress.org. It is the same engine as TitanCart Pro — the same database tables, the same admin, the same storefront — with the Pro-only features and the bundled extensions left out. It is free and GPL, needs no license key, has no time limit, and runs a real store that takes real orders.
1. What Lite includes
- Catalogue — simple and variable products with variations, categories, attributes and product filters, image galleries and product videos, digital downloads, product tabs, brands, product reviews with moderation, and wishlists.
- Selling — a real cart session, guest checkout, order notes, and order management with statuses, invoices, fulfilment and shipment tracking.
- Payments — Stripe, plus cash on delivery, bank transfer and cheque.
- Shipping and tax — flat rate, free shipping and table-based rates with zones and conditions; full tax classes, zones and rate rules. Tax is not cut down in Lite.
- Customers — accounts, address book, order history and customer groups.
- Storefront — SEO output (meta tags, canonical URLs, Open Graph, product schema), a sitemap, GDPR tools, age verification, reCAPTCHA, social buttons, Best Sellers blocks, price per unit, testimonials and an FAQ page, and the free Prism theme.
- Data — CSV import and export, including the WooCommerce migration tool.
Under Extensions → Installed Extensions a Lite store shows eleven built-in extensions, each with its own toggle: Best Sellers, Customer Product Reviews, GDPR Compliance, Google reCAPTCHA, Google Sitemap, Product Variations, SEO, Price Per Unit, Wish List, Social Buttons and Age Verification.
2. What Lite leaves to Pro
Pro-only features are simply absent from the Lite admin — there are no locked menu items, nags or trial timers. The list:
- PayPal, Venmo, Square and Authorize.net.
- Live USPS, UPS and FedEx shipping rates.
- Product options, product bundles and Bulk Buys quantity tiers.
- Promotions and coupon codes, gift cards, Loyalty Rewards and Email Campaigns.
- Returns (RMA), Revenue Reports, Site Backup and the REST API.
- Social sign-in, catalog mode, access restrictions and saved import presets.
- The nine extensions bundled with Pro (Subscriptions, Multi-Vendor Marketplace, Abandoned Cart Recovery, Affiliate Marketing, Product Data Feeds, SMS Notifications, Wishlist Sharing & Alerts, Tips & Donations, Printful). TitanCart Lottery and Software Licensing are sold separately and do run on Lite.
No coupon box: Lite has no way to create a coupon code, so the cart page shows no promo-code box and the WooCommerce migration does not offer coupons. Coupon codes are part of Promotions, a Pro feature; the box appears as soon as the store moves to Pro.
3. Privacy
Lite makes no outbound connections of its own: no license check, no update checker, no analytics and no remote code installer. A handful of features talk to a third party only after you configure them with your own credentials or trigger them yourself — Stripe, Google reCAPTCHA, Google Maps address autocomplete, YouTube and Vimeo product videos, remote image URLs in a CSV import, and the one-click Prism demo content, which downloads from market.titancart.io. Each is off until you turn it on.
4. Installing Lite
- Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin and search for TitanCart Lite.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
- Optionally install the free Prism storefront theme from market.titancart.io — see Connecting the TitanCart theme.
Activation creates the tc_ tables, seeds the defaults and the storefront pages, and puts TitanCart in your WordPress sidebar; Installing TitanCart has the detail. Updates come through WordPress.org.
5. Upgrading to Pro
Because the editions share their tables and settings, a Lite store becomes a Pro store in place. Buy Pro at market.titancart.io, then on Plugins deactivate TitanCart Lite (do not delete it yet), upload and activate the Pro ZIP, and enter your key under Settings → Account & License. Once Pro is running, delete Lite — deleting it leaves your data in place. The step-by-step is in Installing TitanCart §5.
The reverse holds too: if a Pro subscription is not renewed, the store keeps selling as TitanCart Lite, the Pro-only features switch off, and nothing is deleted. Renewing restores them with your settings as you left them.
Troubleshooting
- I can’t find Options, Promotions or Reports. They are Pro features and are not in the Lite admin at all.
- Where do customers enter a coupon code? Nowhere on Lite — see §2. Coupon codes come with Promotions in Pro.
- Will I lose anything moving to Pro? No. Same tables, same settings; follow the order in §5 and keep Lite installed until Pro is active.
